ROOM PRESS RELEASE:
US$330 million SpaceEdutainment Theme Park Investor
Road Show blasts off with a viable KPMG Business Plan
KPMG has just completed a Market and Financial Feasibility
Study and a Business Plan for SpacePort Shenyang (China)
and has found it to be viable.
Cape Town, South Africa (PRWEB) November 14, 2006 –
SpacePortEdutainment (www.SpacePortEdutainment.com), a South
African company, is the visionary and developer of the SpacePort[”Destination”]
concept. The vision is to build world-class “next
generation” space, science and technology theme parks
and edutainment centers, which will provide a "space
tourism experience" on Planet Earth for those unable
to travel into space.
”SpacePortEdutainment plans to build
SpacePort Shenyang, a US$330 million., 20 hectare, space
theme park in Shenyang, North East China, to cater for 4mio.
visitors per annum which is due to open in time for the
2008 Beijing Olympic Games, as Shenyang is a host city”
explains Hans Deuze, SpacePortEdutainment’s Senior
Vice President: Development and Operations.
Shenyang is the capital of Liaoning Province,
with a population of 42 million. Shenyang has a population
of 7 million, an annual multi million tourist population
and there is an addressable market of 24 million people
within a 150km radius.
“The City of Shenyang is whole heartedly
supporting the SpacePort Shenyang project, which is regarded
as an important asset for the 2008 Olympic Games. SpacePort
Shenyang, will become a sought after destination creating
many jobs and will become a welcome boost for the local
economy” says Shenyang’s Deputy Mayor Song Qi.
SpacePort Shenyang is the first of several
SpacePorts that are in the pipeline. The next planned site
is SpacePortAfrica, a US$75 million project that will form
part of “Africa Theme Park Resort”, a US$550
million theme park resort development in Johannesburg, South
Africa. SpacePortAfrica is due to open in October 2009 in
time for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. In total, SpacePortEdutainment
has more than 5 SpacePort[“Destination”] projects
on its radar screen at this time. This includes a well positioned
SpacePortMoscow.
SpacePortEdutainment’s creative development
coordination and operations is being spearheaded by former
Euro Disney Imagineer Hans Deuze. Whilst working at Euro
Disneyland, Deuze had vast experience and training in live
show operations and special events. In 2000, Deuze was the
operational producer for Walt Disney Studio’s world
renown spectacular stunt show called “Moteurs…Action”
involving specially designed cars, motor bikes, jet skis
and a large cast of actors, stuntmen and technicians.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands
part-funded the SpacePort Shenyang Feasibility Study which
was carried out this year by an international consortium
and which included BRC Imagination Arts, Vekoma, DHV, KPMG
and Entertainment Projects International. The Study proved
that the project is viable from an infrastructural, operational
and business standpoint.
KPMG determined that “the project concept
for SpacePort Shenyang is unique and will be the “first
of its’ kind” in the Chinese market. The positive
economic environment in China bodes well for the development
of projects such as SpacePort Shenyang. Disposable incomes
are growing and creating opportunities for the development
of one of the biggest middle class societies in the world.”
“BRC Imagination Arts, of Burbank, California,
will now generate the SpacePort Shenyang Master Plan”
explains Raoul Katovsky, CEO of SpacePortEdutainment.
SpacePortEdutainment has had initial discussions
with major players in the investment community in the United
States, England, Hong Kong and China, who have already indicated
an ability to fund the SpacePort Shenyang project. “I
am quite confident that the global SpacePort Shenyang Investor
Road Show that we are about to kick start will result in
the needed funding being secured, given that the KPMG Feasibility
Study clearly demonstrates the viability of the project.”
says SpacePortEdutainment’s Washington DC-based lawyer,
Daniel Huber, who is leading the SpacePort Shenyang capital
raising program.
Raoul Katovsky will be visiting the IAAPA
Expo (http://iaapaatlanta.expoplanner.com) in Atlanta, Georgia
November 15 through November 18 to attract anchor partners,
potential investors and further identify exciting attractions
and content for SpacePort Shenyang.
