GAMING GETS THEME PARKS (ITWEB)

Theme park development company SpacePortLeisure literally
wants to take local software developers for a ride,
by creating places for them to showcase and test virtual
reality gaming, says CEO Danny Naidoo.
Naidoo, who was, until March, Microsoft SA's director
for development platforms, says the company he is
involved with has identified a number of sites around
the country to build “mini-theme park”
areas. Games and virtual reality software can be tested
in these areas on the local population before being
exported to other countries.

| SpacePortEdutainment,
a company with strong South African ties, has raised
eyebrows in the business community with the scale
and ambition of several offshore projects it is planning,
including a € 500m theme park, hotel and casino
complex in Spain.
Local businessman Danny Naidoo, the former Microsoft
SA developer and platform group director who is president
and CEO of SpacePort, said yesterday the company’s
plans for a similar $330m theme park in the north-eastern
Chinese city of Shenyang were at an advanced stage
and that it was “fully funded”.

SPACEPORT SHENYANG SITE INSPECTION

| SpacePort Edutainment
and its team of technical experts, representing the
Dutch Consortium responsible for the design of SpacePort
Shenyang, recently finished a five-day comprehensive
inspection of the site of the future SpacePort Shenyang.
The site is situated at the Qi Pan Shan (Chessboard
Mountain) area, about 17 kilometers northeast of Shenyang
City.

of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, for a
€140,000 PESP Grant Application to part fund
the SpacePortShenyang Feasibility Study.
SpacePortEdutainment signed a SpacePorShenyang
Joint Venture Agreement with Liaoning Rexing Enterprises
Group Company Limited on April 26, 2005, to build
a US$250m space theme park (dubbed a “SpacePort”)
in Shenyang, China. It is scheduled to open in time
for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

The Municipal Bureau of Foreign Trade
& Economic Cooperation, Shenyang today issued the
Certificate of Approval for the establishment of Shenyang
SpacePort Consulting Company Limited, the joint venture
company being formed to build a US$250m space theme
park (dubbed a “SpacePort”) in Shenyang,
North East China. The Park is scheduled to open in time
for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. |

Pretoria - A multibillion-rand Disneyland-style
family oriented African theme park is being planned
for a 630ha site in Kempton Park that will create an
estimated 6 000 direct and 23 880 indirect jobs if it
goes ahead.
This was revealed at a signing ceremony yesterday for
a contract between Steward Scott and David Zeverijn,
the vice-ambassador of the Netherlands, for a grant
of R1.3 million to finalise the feasibility study for
the theme park. Steward Scott is the nominated project
manager for the park.

has today given its approval for SpacePortEdutainment
to acquire a 51% interest in Shenyang SpacePort Consulting

to transfer up to €178,500 to the Joint Venture
Company, subject to SARB’s terms and conditions
as stated in their Approval. |
